Job Description

LVCC has an immediate Accounting Supervisor position available in our Fiscal Department. Ideal candidate has experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and collections, payroll, and general ledger entries and analyses. This position has growth potential into a Controller position within a couple of years.


Duties and Responsibilities

Supervises the Accounts Payable and Purchasing Specialist, Accounting Assistant, and the Accounts Receivable and Collections Specialist while ensuring all deadlines and tasks are completed on time and accurately.

  • Prepare monthly journal entries.
  • Analyze and audit general ledger accounts throughout the year in posting of payables and journal entries.
  • Assist with bi-yearly budget preparation.
  • Assist with state grants and quarterly reporting.
  • Oversee that grant funds are recorded in appropriate categories and documentation is scanned for reviews and audits.
  • Oversee all cash and investment accounts including monthly reconciliation of accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries and detailed records of prepaid expenses account throughout the year.
  • Responsible for the depreciation schedules and fixed asset details throughout the year including journal entries.
  • Assist in annual audit and government audits.
  • Backup to the Accounting Manager when needed.
  • Assist CFO on various projects when needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of 5 years of accounting and management experience needed.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent computer skills.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Knowledgeable in compliance with practices and procedures of GAAP.
  • A multi-tasker with strong analytical and problem solving abilities with attention to detail and deadlines.
  • Accuracy driven and the ability to prioritize.
  • Nonprofit experience a plus.
