He shoots... he scores! Lehigh Valley Children's Centers wins again!

MeLVin, Lehigh Valley Phantom’s puck-nosed mascot, didn’t stand a chance in the goal cage against 200 enthusiastic boys and girls.

In a month-long community outreach program with LVCC’s Summer Explorers, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms introduced Allentown and Bethlehem students to street hockey.

LVCC’s students had fun practicing stick handling and other basic hockey moves. The high-energy game kept the children active and on their toes. MeLVin surprised the aspiring stars for a photo op and chance to play goaltender.

LVCC programs develop leadership skills in children, building confidence, using collaborative sports. Children learn to work as a team through communication. More than slap shots and hat tricks, hockey challenges children to stretch their abilities – both individually and as a team.

Participants in LVCC’s Summer Explorers range from five to 12 years old. One day, these young pucks might make it to The Show. Watch out NHL!
