Coronavirus Updates - March 17, 2020

Dear LVCC Families,

In response to yesterday’s mandate by Governor Wolf, Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers will be closing all child care programming as of today, March 17, 2020. Lehigh Valley Children’s Centers is applying for a waiver to provide care for families who are essential services personnel, such as healthcare workers, first responders, direct healthcare staff and long term care facility staff, who must have safe and stable care options for their children so they can report to work. Once we have confirmation that we are permitted to open, we will communicate it to our families.

We urge all families to follow the instructions from our March 12th message: We ask that you and/or any family member experiencing mild-to-moderate illness and flu-like symptoms, including fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, refrain from contact with others. If you or the child in care is showing any of these symptoms we urge you to seek medical evaluation.

While our centers are closed, families receiving Child Care Works subsidies will not have a co-pay. Please do not cancel your CCW or make changes. This could affect your CCW once everything returns to normal.

When LVCC reopens, we will continue with the following procedures:

  • Increasing the frequency of handwashing for children and staff.
  • Increasing the frequency of disinfecting surface areas with cleaning disinfectants approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
  • Closely monitoring the attendance of staff and children.
  • Continuing to complete daily visual health checks on all individuals entering our buildings with a heightened awareness of possible respiratory symptoms.
  • Decreasing the number of visitors, volunteers, consultants, and other outside community members within the facilities.
  • Employee trainings that are scheduled for staff will be available online.

As always, we will keep you up to date on any information or reopening of our centers. Thank you for your patience during this time.
