LVCC’s staff recognition awards allow us to acknowledge the exceptional work and accomplishments of the individuals and teams within our organization. All staff were invited to submit nominations for their dedicated and talented colleagues, which were then reviewed by a nominating committee. The award winners were introduced in front of the entire LVCC organization (over 200 employees) at the August 2018 professional development held at DeSales University.
Justin Stovall received The Chairperson's Award for Excellence in Management.
The Chairperson's Award for Excellence in Management recognizes supervisory or managerial employees who have made significant contributions or achievements in the improvement of operational or departmental effectiveness, efficiency and productivity. This year's recipient was Justin Stovall, IT manager.
Sandy Haas and Lynn Unger received The Fowler Excellence Award.
The Fowler Excellence Award recognizes exceptional performance by a center, department, classroom or team who demonstrate outstanding contributions to organizational programs or operations through exceptional performance, accomplishments and achievements. This year's recipients were Sandy Haas and Lynn Unger, Pre-K Counts teacher team for LVCC on Union Boulevard in Allentown.
Louise Labar received The Judith Chase Award for Individual Growth, Creativity and Innovation.
The Judith Chase Award for Individual Growth, Creativity and Innovation recognizes exemplary work and growth by an employee that has made a significant contribution to the advancement of the LVCC mission. The awardee demonstrated passion, creativity and innovation in work performance, which led to a positive impact for others. This year's recipient was Louise Labar, payroll specialist/accounting assistant.
Adelaidalinz Aponte (left) received The Ruby Marrero Rising Star Award.
The Ruby Marrero Rising Star Award recognizes employees who have chosen to continue their education while working full time at LVCC. The winner demonstrated dedication and commitment by completing a Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate. This year’s recipient was Adelaidalinz (Ada) Aponte, infant assistant teacher for LVCC at South Mountain in Allentown.

The Teacher Excellence Awards are awarded to teachers who demonstrate a contagious enthusiasm for teaching and learning. They regularly demonstrate traits of leadership in the classroom and among center staff, and effectively continue to develop the classroom, while engaging children and family. The teachers must demonstrate innovative and effective teaching methods that demonstrate clear positive developmental outcomes for various types of children. The individual(s) are significant contributors to all of their children, families, classroom and center throughout the year. This year's recipient of the Infant Toddler Teacher Excellence Award was Jennifer Macias, infant teacher for LVCC on Union Boulevard in Allentown. Zora Greene, toddler teacher for LVCC on Union Boulevard in Allentown, was awarded the Toddler Teacher Excellence Award. Kathy Ryan-Travis, preschool teacher for LVCC on Union Boulevard in Allentown received the Preschool Teacher Excellence Award. And the final award, the School Age Teacher Excellence Award, went to Alicha Pantoja, school-age teacher for LVCC at Truman School in Salisbury Township.
